On Sunday, taking advantage of a brief interlude of sunshine in the midst of a couple solid weeks of rain, we joined Liz and Steve and Bela and Baby Julien on an expedition to the Railroad Park in Medford.
This, as it turns out, was a Great Idea.
Josh was so entranced by all the trains - big trains, little trains, medium-sized model trains just big enough for little kids to ride on, huge full-sized trains that you could climb up into - that he went into Super-Intense mode; you know, the one where he doesn't speak, he doesn't listen, he doesn't smile or laugh or even blink, he just watches his Item of Interest with such focus that his whole world narrows down to that one thing. He absorbed every moment of it, from the two rides around the park on the trains to watching the model train go around and around the hyper-detailed diorama that the train nuts had built for it. (Apparently there are 5 different train-related clubs that call the Railroad Park home, each focused on a different scale of train model or some other area of interest.)
To see a taste of our day at the park, check out the web gallery here.
That was yesterday - today, we're back to Real Life (TM), in the form of rain, Felicia at work and on call, and all us boys hanging out together at the house. Josh has been drawing, building with blocks, playing with PlayDoh, watching Toy Story 2, eating snacks, and so forth, all the while giving me a running commentary on what he's up to and occasionally asking me to help him with something. Baby Ben, meanwhile, has been... well, mostly sleeping. He's had several days in a row with little or no sleep during the day, so I guess he's set out to make up for that sleep deficit today.
I'm not complaining. The more boys sleeping, the better, as far as I'm concerned...
Wow - another blog!! Great photos. Loved them and loved reading about the trip. We want to go - will you take Gramma and Pop Pop? Mom and Dad
